South Tyrol Wine Route
The “Südtiroler Weinstrasse” (“South Tyrolean Wine Route”) is the place where some of the best wines in Italy are produced. The “Gewuerztraminer” white wine is one of them, cultivated around the town of Termeno. The most important tourist resort on the “Südtiroler Weinstrasse” is Caldaro, known for its lake and its elegant South Tyrol hotels. In summer it’s possible to swim, to windsurf, to sail on the lake. Caldaro also hosts a Wine Museum, where it’s possible to learn everything about the wine production techniques and its traditions; it’s open from April till October. Hikers spending their Italy vacations by the “Südtiroler Weinstrasse” can take part into a hiking trip on the Monte Favogna (German: Fennberg); this hiking trip is ideal for well-trained hikers. An easier hiking trip crosses the Rastenbach ravine; to go and to return, three hours are needed.
